So, those who know me know I love to read, and I love to read a lot. I figured I’d share what I’m reading with you all, let you know what I thought of it.
First up on the list is the book I finished most recently: Sam Sykes’ Three Axes To Fall, the final book in his Grave of Empires trilogy. (The first two are Seven Blades In Black and Ten Arrows Of Iron, and there are two novellas as well, The Gallows Black and The Iron Dirge). I could not wait to return to the world of Vagrant mages, the Imperium, the Revolution, innocent people stuck in-between, and one crazy woman with a bad magic gun.
Sal the Cacophony has become one of my favorite fictional characters. I love her grit and determination, and I really love how abrasive she is. Sometimes those are just great characters to read about, you know? Although I don’t think she and I would be friends if we met in real life.
The only thing I’m upset about is that the story is complete now. With Three Axes To Fall, the trilogy is done, and it doesn’t look like there will be any new adventures in the Scar, at least not right now. Don’t get me wrong, the ending was fantastic, exactly what the story needed, but just because something ended like it should have doesn’t mean I don’t wish it wasn’t over.
5 out of 5, would read again, with pleasure. Definitely worth your time.
