So, I didn’t get a lot of writing done while I was sick, but I did do a lot of reading, because there wasn’t much else to do except lie there and feel miserable. There’s only so much TV I can stand, you know?
Anyway, I was feeling nostalgic and wanted something that hit those “horse girl” vibes, and happened across a copy of Anne McCaffrey’s Black Horses for the King, which is a story about how King Arthur–Lord Artos, in this tale–got his hands on horses large enough to carry him and his knights into battle, told from the point of view of a young man who has a way with horses.
I loved this little book. It only took me the afternoon to finish it, but it ticked all those boxes that I love in a good horse story.

5/5, hit all those vibes I was looking for. Would happily read again when the mood strikes.
